Mineral broth is an important broth for helping to alkalize the body and warm the system. It also helps counter the negative effects of stress, and helps to boost the immune system.
It can be served as a delicious sipping tea and/or used as a nutritious base for more hearty soups and stews.
Mineral Broth Recipe….
8 Servings.
Wash with a scrub brush and cut into 1-inch chunks:
2 cups sweet potatoes or yams
1 medium potato (any variety, raw with skin)
1 cup zucchini
1 cup cabbage
1 cup green beans
2 cups celery
Slice into strips:
1 cup collard greens
1 cup onion
Coarsely chop:
½ tablespoon fresh parsley
½ tablespoon dill
2 cloves garlic
Add whole:
½ cup flax seed
Place ingredients in a large pot with a lid. Cover with filtered water, just to the level of the vegetables and add:
6 slices fresh ginger root (thumbprint size)
¼ cup or more seaweed (dulse, nori, wakame, kiziki, or kombu). I like to use Kombu for this recipe.
Seasonal greens (kale, mustard greens, spinach, or broccoli)
Bring the water to a boil. Turn down to a simmer and cover. The broth is best when it simmers for 3-5 hours.
Strain and serve.
